Austin First Impressions

Wed Jul 16, 2008 at 10:43:30 AM PDT

Hello Everyone. I'm sitting here with some wonderful people who are planning to pack boxes for the troops at one o'clock. I may get deputized at two and help register new Texas Voters.

There are many of us here and we've left an impression already;

CNN mentioned us today but not for Netroots Nation. A fun comment by ignatz uk got mentioned by the American Mornings grammar police. Wow, it just doesn't get any worser than CNN.

It doesn't get any better that the company I am keeping here.

The important stuff you can learn here is amazing. Take Shark Ball. Dreaming of Better Days, who got two hugs from me, took Shark Ball for everyone to enjoy;

Just squeeze the head and out come the body parts;

My first impression is that this is a wonderful town. Since my first destination was the river my first impression of Austin was a sleepy town;

Say what?

But then I found Sixth Street and Austin is very much a party town. Some wonderful old buildings on that street;

It's very pretty here;

And friendly;

One thing is for sure, Austin is a batty town. When I went looking for a good place foe a sunset shot;

I saw around a million bats coming out from under the Congress Street Bridge;

I didn't get any good photos but it was pretty amazing to watch. Try and see the bats at dusk if you are coming here.

But who will have time for bats? There is so many great people to meet this week.

And I hope to meet everyone of you.
